finding time to forage.

I’ve had a little bit of a break in between shows to regroup and restock.  It’s been great to have some time to relax and do things other than jewelry making, but alas, June is lurking around the corner and with it  comes a whole new slew of shows.  As always, I’ve been on the hunt for vintage goodies to inspire and  incorporate into my designs.  It’s been particularly bountiful lately, I can’t wait to dig in.

Vintage wooden ‘snaps’ (missing the p!) hinged scrapbook with treasures inside.  The colorized photobooth photo was a prized discovery.

Assorted vintage components purchased separately that ‘fell’ together quite nicely…
crushedjadeFinding that I’m drawn to green lately.  This vintage crushed jade locket is a perfect hiding place for a ‘joey’ vintage image.

huntingcupsCannot wait to fill these vintage hunting trophies with greens and use these as props in my booth.

Hope to see you at a show soon! Check out my ‘Events’ page up at the top of this page to find one near you. Next up is Art for the Cash Poor at the Crane Arts Building in Philly.

welcome, spring.

Yes, it’s officially spring but we’re still getting four inches of snow today in bucks county, pa. In a way, it’s working for me because there’s no sunny, spring-like weather distractions.  March has been tough because the flu brought me down a few weeks ago, so there’s lots of catching up to do in order to be ready for the deluge of spring shows that begin mid-april.

Clover Market with kick off the season on april 14th in ardmore, pa.  I can hardly wait, it’s always an amazing event and there’s a great new slew of artists and vendors as well as old favorites retuning for the season.  Check out the pinterest board of the spring sellers here.

If you’ve not already subscribed to be on my mailing list, make sure you do so!  i’ll be sending out my newsletter in early april with my complete spring schedule.  Still waiting to hear from a few shows, but SO many great ones already booked!

Hope to see you soon…

winter market tomorrow!

I’m so excited to be participating in Clover Market‘s first wintry offering – ‘Winter Market’ at the 23rd street Armory in Philly.  Yes, it’s tomorrow! Along with Clover’s usual group of fantastically curated sellers and makers there’s also food trucks and a selection of diy workshops.

You can still buy tickets (here) for a discount ($5 gets you 2 for 1), and there’s a second round of earlybird vip entrance (9am) tickets available (here) which includes a gorgeous Greenmarket Purveying candle and free cup of ‘coffee and snap’ from Rival Brothers and Art in the Age– sure to get you going early in the am!  Otherwise, you can pay for admission at the door.

Will I see you tomorrow?

clover market this sunday!

It’s that time again! Clover Market’s October installation is this Sunday, October 14th in Ardmore, PA from 10 – 5. As always, there will be a carefully curated selection of vendors and makers selling vintage and handmade, food and free hands-on crafts for the kids.

I’ll have a nice selection of joeys perfectly suited for fall and for holiday gifts. Look for me in my usual spot, booth #19, on the corner of the third row off of Lancaster Avenue.  You’ll find a complete list of all 100 plus vendors and map here.

Plenty of copper and deerskin suede wrap bracelets will be on hand- they double as a choker as well.

There’s a ‘new’ crop of vintage cluster bracelets too…

I’m bringing a trove of funky cocktail rings- great with any outfit!

As an added bonus, Clover’s doing a giveaway.  One lucky winner will win one of their new oversized totebags AND a super comfy distressed logo t-shirt. Just leave a comment on their FB post with what you’re hunting for at Sunday’s Market AND win an additional entry by sharing their page with your friends. Check it out…

time for a giveaway…

in honor of the start of school and the waning days of summer, i’m giving away these new joey ‘gold dangly’ earrings!

the earrings: light as a feather long brass drops with vintage bar chain dangle from antiqued gold pendants featuring luminescent vintage ocean images. they will remind you of the beach any season that you wear them. or a rare and mysterious blue stone. you can make up your own story too.

the rules are simple: you must be a facebook follower of joeyfivecents. you can find  my page here. if you’re already a follower than you’re good with step one. next, leave a comment (under the giveaway post on the facebook page) about what you’re looking forward to with the coming of fall – anything in particular. the changing of the leaves.  the kids back in school. or maybe there’s nothing you look forward to. that’s okay too.

a winner will be picked at random this friday (9/7) at noon, but remember to leave a comment on facebook to be in the running.

thanks and good luck!

summer is for butterflies.

I’m having so much fun designing with these gorgeous vintage enamel butterfly pendants that I discovered.  Many boast vibrant, irridescent colors  and a few even have some charming handpainted details that are the perfect compliment to my joey charms.  I’ve already mixed and matched several into my word charms necklaces.

This petite blue guy was the only one of it’s kind that I found, so I paired it with a vintage floral illustration joey and vintage beads.

I’ve already sold a few and the rest I’ve listed on etsy.  See what you think, they’re a great summer layering necklace…

Final Spring Clover Market- Sunday, 6/3

You’ll definitely want to come to this Sunday’s Clover Market, it’s the last one until the fall!  No more putting it off because you’ll have to wait until September 16th if you do.  Check out this incredible list of 100+ artists and crafters plus 8 delicious food vendors- yum. They’ll also have free kids’ crafts from the Main Line Art Center.  How can you miss any of that?

I’ll be in my usual spot on the corner in space #19, as always right next to Sardine Clothing Company.

Here’s what I’ve got in the works for Sunday. Since June pays homage to Dads, I’m offering lots of goods for the dudes. Currently, I’m finishing up a bunch of my quirky, yet popular ‘cowboy’ buckles made with graphics from vintage pulp novels:

and… I’m bringing back the cufflinks!  Featuring bits and bobs from vintage postcards, maps and the like, these are affordable and fun. Oh, and I may have thrown in another cowboy or two…

Don’t worry, there’ll be lots of joeys for the women-folk.  I’ll have plenty of these:

and these, which are sort of a new design with assorted vintage medals:

Be sure to check my Facebook page for more sneaks towards the end of the week.
