autumn is (nearly) here…

and the show season is beginning again! I realize that I’ve been absolutely horrible at keeping this current over the summer and resolve to be better.  many, many events are on the horizon for fall and winter – there are some old favorites and a few new ones that i’m really excited about.

here’s what’s coming up in september:

cloverfall13the one and only clover market kicks it off on september 15th.  don’t worry if you can’t make that one- I’ll be at all FOUR of their shows this season. yes, they have added a chestnut hill location in october- yay!

FRONT-Applehead-2013-2BACK-Applehead-2013-1I’m thrilled to be a part of applehead studios open house this year!  along with three other artists/friends that I admire, i’ll be exhibiting my work for sale the weekend of september 20th.  this is a great relaxed atmosphere and the perfect opportunity to get your holiday shopping started along with a drink and some conversation.

to get the full schedule of shows and to stay up to date on all things joey- make sure you’ve subscribed to my newsletter. I will be sending one out in the next week. I promise no spam or sharing of your email- I only send it out four to five times a year.

hope to see you soon…

I’ll be one of the 100 vendors this weekend at Penn’s Landing in Philly this weekend for the awesomeness that is the Art Star Craft Bazaar.  This year marks their 10th anniversary- this will be my second year participating in this unique and wonderful event. Here’s how you get there!

Yes, it’s Mother’s Day too, so bring the whole family for music, food, crafts and crafty goodness.  Check out the amazing vendors here.  Hope to see you… now, back to work!

the beginnings of 2013 and getting back to work…

happy new year!  after a restful and rejuvenating break, it’s time to get back to work. kickin’ 2013 off right, there’s already a few shows on the books…

i’m so looking forward to ‘winter market’ at the 23rd street armory.  clover market always does it right with an immaculately curated group of sellers and makers, but this time there’s food trucks and a selection of diy workshops. you’ll want to buy tickets ahead of time for an earlybird vip entrance (9am) complete with swag bag & coupons (tickets here) or 2 for 1 advance ticketing (tickets here).  otherwise, you can pay for admission at the door. this you won’t want to miss.

debuting on february 9th is the ’30th street craft market’, presented by vix emporium. this valentine show will highlight 30 local artists and craftspeople in the historic 30th street station in philly. this show will continue in the warmer months on the ‘porch’ of the station-  find out more about this cool new event here.

time to get busy!

you know you’re busy when…

your last blog post is from october! oops.

well, it was a fantastically busy fall, and now that we are within the final weeks before christmas, things are even busier.  currently, i’m packing up orders and preparing for my last show of the season/year.

orangebagsthe event is  ‘market at the fareway’, a brand new weekly sunday market in chestnut hill (located behind the historic chestnut hill hotel on germantown ave.) I’ll be there this sunday, december 16th from 11:oo – 4:00.

geometricnaturals2the  site is formerly the old farmers market which is in the middle of a transformation and will feature a different dozen or so handmade and vintage vendors every sunday.  here’s more on what and who you’ll see there.

i’ll have a nice selection of goodies on hand for everyone on your gift list.  if you can’t make it, no worries, there are many ways to shop joey.  you can visit my etsy shop or any of these fine retailers that carry joeyfivecents. in addition, i’ll have things at ‘out of hand’, a pop up shop on 12 race street in frenchtown, nj for the month of december.

hope to see you before the new year!

Clover Market this Sunday…

Posted on

This Sunday, May 6th, is the second Clover Market of spring 2012, in Ardmore, PA.  If you’ve never been, Clover is an upscale vintage outdoor market that features original art, antiques, vintage jewelry & clothing, artisan crafts, and handmade items. Oh, and they have some awesome food to boot. The Market is held one Sunday/month in the spring and fall.

With next weekend being Mother’s Day, I’m focusing on Mom-inspired goodies with images like these cool sepia illustrations from a vintage Ladies Home Journal dated 1927. There’s something about them that’s irresistible, retro and modern at the same time.

I love this dramatic lady who I paired with a stunning but earthy vintage carved celluloid beaded chain- she reminds me of Isabella Rossellini…

Instead of giving flowers instead how about one of these adjustable rings in colorful florals and botanicals (yes, I did threw in another sepia illustration). They are chunky and vibrant and remind me of candy!

A vintage dictionary word necklace makes a great gift for just about anyone- everyone has a word they identify with. It’s petite and layers easily with other pieces or be worn solo.  I make these with copper and resin and original vintage papers from dictionaries. I cluster them with few vintage beads or charms alongside for color.

What word would you use to describe your Mom?

Stop by on Sunday and say hello…
