finding time to forage.

I’ve had a little bit of a break in between shows to regroup and restock.  It’s been great to have some time to relax and do things other than jewelry making, but alas, June is lurking around the corner and with it  comes a whole new slew of shows.  As always, I’ve been on the hunt for vintage goodies to inspire and  incorporate into my designs.  It’s been particularly bountiful lately, I can’t wait to dig in.

Vintage wooden ‘snaps’ (missing the p!) hinged scrapbook with treasures inside.  The colorized photobooth photo was a prized discovery.

Assorted vintage components purchased separately that ‘fell’ together quite nicely…
crushedjadeFinding that I’m drawn to green lately.  This vintage crushed jade locket is a perfect hiding place for a ‘joey’ vintage image.

huntingcupsCannot wait to fill these vintage hunting trophies with greens and use these as props in my booth.

Hope to see you at a show soon! Check out my ‘Events’ page up at the top of this page to find one near you. Next up is Art for the Cash Poor at the Crane Arts Building in Philly.

resin, resin all day long… and a GIVEAWAY!

So much resining to do to make up for lost time while I had the flu! It’s all the more difficult being stuck in the basement with a mask on my face when the weather is as beautiful as it is today.  Oh well, it must be done- Clover Market is in one week (from tomorrow, officially) and there’s much to do!  These joeys will become fun little stud earrings when I’m done with them.

Speaking of Clover, did you know there’s a cool giveaway going on right now?!  Check out the rules and how to enter here to win a free super soft Clover T-shirt and market tote bag.  Also, you get to pick your favorite vendor to attend one of the market’s for FREE (hint, hint)! Make sure you’ve shared and posted your comment – good luck!

Hope I see you on April 14th…

it snuck up on me.

I have definitely entered the summer black hole of time management.   Until about an hour ago, I had little inclination that tomorrow is already the Fourth of July. With my kids out of school for nearly a month and involved with a myriad of camps and activities, it can be difficult to get my own work done let alone keep track of the days.

Much of my time has been spent getting into my latest ‘image obsession’ – vintage brochures, cards and postcards as they relate to summer travel and vacations. I love the promised allure of  exotic locations such as Cypress Gardens and Silver Springs, Florida where everyone is either on waterskis or three inch heels and a bathing suit.  Road trips, Pokonos and Jersey Shore beaches are similarly enchanting. I’ve embraced them in all their ‘plastichrome world of color’ glory.

Look for some new joeys soon, particularly buckles, to surface in my etsy shop and at the Philadelphia Folk Fest where I’ll be a craft vendor from August 17th – 19th in Schwenksville, PA.

All of this will be included in my summer newsletter which I’m finishing up.  If you haven’t subscribed already, please do so here.  It’s the most concise way to stay up to date with my show and event schedule along with important news and links.

Now I just need to figure out what we’re doing tomorrow…

Final Spring Clover Market- Sunday, 6/3

You’ll definitely want to come to this Sunday’s Clover Market, it’s the last one until the fall!  No more putting it off because you’ll have to wait until September 16th if you do.  Check out this incredible list of 100+ artists and crafters plus 8 delicious food vendors- yum. They’ll also have free kids’ crafts from the Main Line Art Center.  How can you miss any of that?

I’ll be in my usual spot on the corner in space #19, as always right next to Sardine Clothing Company.

Here’s what I’ve got in the works for Sunday. Since June pays homage to Dads, I’m offering lots of goods for the dudes. Currently, I’m finishing up a bunch of my quirky, yet popular ‘cowboy’ buckles made with graphics from vintage pulp novels:

and… I’m bringing back the cufflinks!  Featuring bits and bobs from vintage postcards, maps and the like, these are affordable and fun. Oh, and I may have thrown in another cowboy or two…

Don’t worry, there’ll be lots of joeys for the women-folk.  I’ll have plenty of these:

and these, which are sort of a new design with assorted vintage medals:

Be sure to check my Facebook page for more sneaks towards the end of the week.

Happy Trails…

new for spring!

Here’s a sneak peek of a new bracelet design that I’m working on for debut at the spring markets .  This design boasts a little bit of everything: assorted  vintage mixed metal chains, a copper joey pendant and a handful of vintage beads/charms for good measure.

Vintage cloud illustration pendant with a plastic bead/charm cluster.

This one’s a vintage butterfly book and has vintage beads to boot.

Available soon…

Make sure you have your calendar marked:  my first market of the season is Clover Market in Ardmore, PA on April 15th!

on my worktable: vintage rose pendants

Vivid vintage rose images (slightly instagram enhanced!) in antiqued brass and copper bezels waiting to be resined and made into big, colorful necklaces.  It’s hard sometimes for me  to work with brights as I tend to gravitate towards the earthy tones, but roses are so classic and fresh and promise of spring.
